Blessed Bee

Bee Goddess by Wendy Andrews

11th Week of Summer, Goddess of the week

This article is part of the Goddesses for Every Season Journey I have decided to take and I am following the book Goddesses for Every Season by Nancy Blair. A year long Journey to meet a different Goddess a week.

Blessed Bee is the Great Mother, the Queen Bee. The ancient Greeks also named the Great Mother Melissa, which means ‘the Queen Bee’ and her priestesses were known as the Melissae, which means ‘the bees’. This was particularly in the temples of Artemis, Aphrodite, Demeter, Cybele, Diana and Rhea.

Some other Bee Goddesses are the Hindu Goddess Bhramari Devi, Norse Goddess Freya and Greek Goddess Gaia.

Since humans scratched on rocks, bees have played a central part in spiritual interest and worship. Bees and honey are in the creation myths and sacred places of different ancient cultures and are powerful symbols of community, regeneration and a connection to the otherworld where the ancestors are. They also represent sweetness, healing and magic due to being the source of honey.

Blessed Bee is a reminder of eternal return, she brings new life year after year  and weaves the thread of regeneration. Her honey an elixir and ambrosia of renewal – the nectar of wisdom and magic. Her honeycomb represents balance of all things in nature, divine harmony and community as it is constructed of perfectly arranged hexagrams, sacred geometry. She will whisper words of love and laughter to you and will remind you that hard work pays off, but also to have fun too. Follow her beautiful dance and dance with her into a blissful delight.

Meditation to connect with Blessed Bee

Put on a oil diffuser/burner with one or more of the oils above and find a comfortable position.  Take three deep breaths, relaxing your whole body. Hold your intention in connecting to Blessed Bee the Goddess. You could say this in your head three times, ‘My intention is to connect with Blessed Bee, the Great Goddess’

Imagine you are at the edge of a meadow. The meadow has tall grass and beautiful wild flowers. You notice there are a few bees buzzing about, but there seem to be more than you would usually expect. You see there is a path going into the meadow so you take the path through the tall grass and flowers. It takes you deeper into the meadow and you notice you are going in a spiral to the middle and more and more bees are buzzing about. You reach the middle and there is a beautiful golden hive. You just stand there in awe of it and watch the bees coming and going. After a while a bee comes up to you and whispers in your ear, ‘Eat the mushroom near the hive, it will make you small and you can go inside.’ So you take the mushroom and swallow it and you shrink and shrink and become very small just like a bee. You wonder how you will now get inside the hive, but as you are thinking this a bee comes along and tells you to hop on their back. So you hop on and fly up into the hive and the bee takes you to the Queen. ‘Welcome dear child, I have been expecting you.’ You say hello to the Queen and thank her for connecting. You then have a conversation with her.

When you finish your conversation and asking the questions you needed to, the Queen Bee gives you a gift and tells you that you are always welcome in her hive. She will be here always for you when ever you need to talk. Thanking her, you leave the hive and instantly become your own size again. When you are ready, take three deep breaths and come back to the room.

Write down your experience. What was Blessed Bee like? What message did she have for you? Did she answer your questions? What did she look like? What was the gift she gave you?

My Journey with the Blessed Bee

I listened to my drumming CD as I usually do and and my power animal came to me. She lead me along a path into a meadow with tall grass and flowers and in the middle of this meadow was a hive. I was told to take the mushroom to become small so I could go into the hive. So I did, once I was in the hive the Queen Bee greeted me. She took me on her back and flew off with me to show me things and gave me a message, which I won’t share here as it is very personal. She also told me to look for her the following day as she would come to me. Well she did. I didn’t notice it when it happened, but the next day after I realized she did indeed visit me! I noticed a bee on the concrete while at the park with my son. It was an unusual place for a bee but I didn’t connect it until afterwards. I love how confirmation comes to us especially when we have our doubts, but that was confirmation that we do connect to the Goddess, to Spirit and other worlds.

Blessed Bee is here to help you work hard and achieve your goals. Reminding you that when you work hard you will receive the sweetness of your labor. She will also help you to have fun as well, to be balanced in your working and playing. She will help you communicate and work as a team and a family unit as well as help with creating new ideas and bringing new life into the world. Call on her when you need help and she will be there to inspire you with her beautiful dance.

I hope you found this information helpful for your connection with Blessed Bee. If you would like to have more information I have listed at the bottom a list of resources for you to read.
