5th Week of Autumn, Goddess of the week

This article is part of the Goddesses for Every Season Journey I have decided to take and I am following the book Goddesses for Every Season by Nancy Blair. A year long Journey to meet a different Goddess a week.

Selket is an Egyptian Goddess of protection, healing, magic and the underworld. She is also known as a Scorpion Goddess and rules over poisonous creatures, protecting you from their sting/bite and she is normally depicted with a scorpion on her head or  sphinx with a scorpion tail.

Selket is a dark Goddess who will help you with shadow work. She protects the souls of the dead and the living, but she can also be dangerous. She has the power to slip in and out of both the worlds of the living and the dead and will be brutally honest in her answers if you ask her questions regarding your path/life. However she will help you find yourself once again if you truly wish to. Helping you become whole once again, letting go of what no longer serves you, delving deep into your soul and becoming reborn again a new. A transformation to become the true self.

Meditation to connect with Selket

Laying or sitting down, take three deep breaths, relaxing your whole body. Hold your intention in connecting to Selket. You could say this in your head three times, ‘My intention is to connect with Selket.’

Imagine you are in front of an Oak Tree with an opening in the trunk. Before you step through the opening, you call to an Animal Guide to come join you. What animal comes to you? You then enter the Oak and go down a spiraling staircase. Going deeper and deeper into the earth. After some time you see a light ahead of you and you walk through it. You have now entered the Underworld. This is where you will find Selket. Your Animal Guide, takes you to where she will be. She will either appear to you or you will hear her. She may give you a message, you may be able to ask her questions.

After some time connecting with Selket, you thank her for connecting and your Animal Guide takes you back to where to came from. Once you are back at the Oak Tree, take three deep breaths and come back to the room.

Write down your experience. What was she like? Did she appear before you? What did she look like? What was her message? Did she answer your questions? What was the Underworld like? What was the animal that came to you? Did your animal give you a message?

My Journey with Selket

Listening to drumming and meeting my Animal Guide, I went deep underground through an oak tree. Going deeper I had a vision of a sun and a moth flying high in front of it. The scene then turned into a fiery, dark landscape. I knew this was the underworld. I then heard her. She said ‘I am the Goddess of the Underworld, of the between, the living and the dead. I protect the souls of the dead. I am the shadows. I am the darkness. Let go of what no longer serves you and transform. Be warned, I can take your soul even when you are living. Now be gone!’ And she left and I was back. I felt she was quite dangerous but her warning I feel was be careful not to slip into depression etc. This is a taking of the soul or at least part of it. To help prevent this we should try to connect more and deal with our issues. To raise our vibrations, so we do not slip into the underworld while we are living.

Selket will help you with your deepest issues, your shadows, but only if you truly wish to do so. As this can be scary and once you start you need to see it through. She will help you through it, to face your fears and the unknowns. To help heal you and to become your true self. Transforming you and giving you a new life. Selket, although a dark Goddess can be loving and supportive. She will protect you too, but she will also be brutally honest with you and you must be ready to face your truths.

I hope you found this information helpful for your connection with Selket. If you would like to have more information I have listed at the bottom a list of resources for you to read.
