Bee Goddess

Bee Goddess

The Bee Goddess/Blessed Bee is the Great Mother, the Queen Bee. The ancient Greeks also named the Great Mother Melissa, which means ‘the Queen Bee’ and her priestesses were known as the Melissae, which means ‘the bees’. This was particularly in the temples of Artemis, Aphrodite, Demeter, Cybele, Diana and Rhea.

Some other Bee Goddesses are the Hindu Goddess Bhramari Devi, Norse Goddess Freya and Greek Goddess Gaia.

Since humans scratched on rocks, bees have played a central part in spiritual interest and worship. Bees and honey are in the creation myths and sacred places of different ancient cultures and are powerful symbols of community, regeneration and a connection to the otherworld where the ancestors are. They also represent sweetness, healing and magic due to being the source of honey.

The Bee Goddess/Blessed Bee is a reminder of eternal return, she brings new life year after year  and weaves the thread of regeneration. Her honey an elixir and ambrosia of renewal – the nectar of wisdom and magic. Her honeycomb represents balance of all things in nature, divine harmony and community as it is constructed of perfectly arranged hexagrams, sacred geometry. She will whisper words of love and laughter to you and will remind you that hard work pays off, but also to have fun too. Follow her beautiful dance and dance with her into a blissful delight.

Meditation to connect with the Bee Goddess

Put on a oil diffuser/burner with one or more of the oils above and find a comfortable position.  Take three deep breaths, relaxing your whole body. Hold your intention in connecting to Blessed Bee the Bee Goddess. You could say this in your head three times, ‘My intention is to connect with Blessed Bee, the Bee Goddess’

Imagine you are at the edge of a meadow. The meadow has tall grass and beautiful wild flowers. You notice there are a few bees buzzing about, but there seem to be more than you would usually expect. You see there is a path going into the meadow so you take the path through the tall grass and flowers. It takes you deeper into the meadow and you notice you are going in a spiral to the middle and more and more bees are buzzing about.

You reach the middle and there is a beautiful golden hive. You just stand there in awe of it and watch the bees coming and going. After a while a bee comes up to you and whispers in your ear, ‘Eat the mushroom near the hive, it will make you small and you can go inside.’ So you take the mushroom and swallow it and you shrink and shrink and become very small just like a bee. You wonder how you will now get inside the hive, but as you are thinking this a bee comes along and tells you to hop on their back. So you hop on and fly up into the hive and the bee takes you to the Queen. ‘Welcome dear child, I have been expecting you.’ You say hello to the Queen and thank her for connecting. You then have a conversation with her.

When you finish your conversation and asking the questions you needed to, the Queen Bee gives you a gift and tells you that you are always welcome in her hive. She will be here always for you when ever you need to talk. Thanking her, you leave the hive and instantly become your own size again. When you are ready, take three deep breaths and come back to the room.

Write down your experience. What was Blessed Bee like? What message did she have for you? Did she answer your questions? What did she look like? What was the gift she gave you?

Meditation to connect with the Bee Goddess

How to connect with the Bee Goddess

Here are a few ways you can connect with the Bee Goddess.

Meditation

One of the best ways to connect with Bee Goddess is through meditation. You can either use the meditation above, find one yourself or just simply sit, close your eyes and relax, setting your intention to connect to her. Feel any energy change or any images that might come to you. Just be and see what happens. Practice the connection and you will start to see results.

Create an Altar

Find a special place where you can create an altar. This could be small, big, indoors or outdoors. Somewhere you can visit and not be disturbed. Decorate it any way you feel is right and with things you associate with the Bee Goddess. Come here daily and connect. The more you do this the more you will feel her with you.

Dance

Just dance. Don’t think, just put on some music and start to move. Go with the flow and bee free and let your inhibitions go!

Study the Bee

Watch the Bees and see what they do. Study them, look at how they fly, how they collect the nectar. If you have access to a hive, maybe you could watch the activity there (being careful not to disturb them and get stung!)
